Three Cities From Serbia Selected as Partners in URBACT Action Networks

At the meeting of the URBACT Programme Monitoring Committee on 28 October 2026, 25 URBACT Action Networks were approved. The URBACT Call for Action Networks was open from 17 March to 17 June 2026.

Three cities from the Republic of Serbia have been selected to participate as partners in three URBACT Action Networks:

  • HERI+AGE – Reactivating Heritage for Age-Friendly Cities – The City of Novi Sad (Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments) is the Lead Partner of this network, whereby the project partners are as follows: Olomouc (Czechia), Bistrița (Romania), Nicosia (Cyprus), Turin (Italy), Geel (Belgium) and Montijo (Portugal).
  • WING – Women for Green Industry – The City of Belgrade (Regional Agency for Development and European Integration) is a project partner in this network, which is led by the City of Avilés, Spain.
  • REWEAVE – Reconnecting Cities through Industrial and Waterfront Transformation – The City of Bor is a project partner in this network, which is led by the City of Sagunto, Spain.

URBACT Action Networks comprise six to eight partner cities or municipalities. The call was open to cities and municipalities ready to develop their urban or local strategies and implement concrete actions for sustainable urban development in their local contexts.

Over a period of two and a half years (30 months), partners involved in the Action Networks will engage in a process of mutual learning and exchange of experience. They will have access to funding to implement activities, expert support, capacity-building opportunities and enhanced visibility. The URBACT Action Networks will begin their work on 1 November 2026 and continue until 30 April 2029.

The 25 approved Action Networks bring together 180 partners from 31 European countries. Of the 180 partner cities, 75 (42%) are participating in the URBACT Programme for the first time. In terms of city size, very small, small and medium-sized cities account for 84% of the partners in these networks. In terms of geographical distribution, the largest number of partners come from Italy (21), followed by Spain (18), Romania (14) and Portugal (14).
