Starović Meets Austrian Ambassador to Discuss Serbia’s European Path

Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starović met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Serbia, H.E. Enno Drofenik, with whom he discussed Serbia’s progress in the European Union accession process and opportunities for further enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

Starović briefed his interlocutor on the reform activities being undertaken by Serbia, particularly in the areas of the rule of law, strengthening institutions and alignment with the European Union acquis. He underscored that Serbia remains firmly committed to full EU membership and to continuing the reforms that are, above all, in the interest of its citizens.

Minister Starović also briefed Ambassador Drofenik on the difficult situation of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as on the continued pressures and violations of their fundamental rights and security.

Particular attention was devoted to the European Union’s current enlargement policy and the significance of consistently applying the principle of a merit-based accession process, based on the individual merits and results achieved by candidate countries.

Starović thanked Austria for its continuous support to Serbia’s European path, stressing that the two countries are linked by close political and economic relations, as well as strong ties between their peoples.

Ambassador Drofenik confirmed Austria’s readiness to continue supporting Serbia in implementing reforms and advancing towards European Union membership.

The interlocutors agreed that continued regular dialogue and partnership cooperation would contribute to further strengthening bilateral relations and Serbia’s European perspective.
