First Meeting of the Steering Committee of the “COHPOL 2” Project Held

The first meeting of the Steering Committee of the project "EU Support to the Republic of Serbia for Effective Implementation of Cohesion Policy – COHPOL 2" was held today at the Ministry of European Integration.

Introductory speeches were given by the Acting Assistant Minister at the Ministry of European Integration, Branko Budimir, and the Head of Cooperation at the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia, Mauro Di Veroli. They emphasised the importance of the project for further strengthening of institutional and administrative capacities of the institutions of the Republic of Serbia in the process of preparing for the future use of the EU Cohesion Policy Funds.

The Inception Report was presented at the meeting, which contains a detailed plan of activities, work methodology, timeline, and expected results of the project. Planned activities and further steps in the implementation of the project were also discussed.

The COHPOL 2 project, the implementation of which is planned for a period of 36 months, represents a continuation of the European Union's long-term support to the Republic of Serbia in preparations for the future management and use of Cohesion Policy Funds. The project is aimed at establishing and further improving the system for the management and control of Cohesion Policy, developing the necessary legislative, strategic and institutional framework, as well as strengthening the capacities of institutions involved in the preparation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of future programmes and projects financed by the European Union.

The project is implemented with financial support from the European Union under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA 2024), in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia. The Ministry of European Integration acts as the main beneficiary and the key national institution responsible for project coordination and activities related to Chapter 22 – Regional Policy and Coordination of Structural Instruments. Project implementation is carried out by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), in consortium with ARCHIDATA, WYG, and EPPCO.
