Minister of European Integration Tanja Miščević stated today that she hoped Cluster 3 within the EU membership negotiations would be opened by the end of February.
Speaking at the European Integration Parliamentary Committee session, Miščević said the end of February marked the first procedural opportunity to open Cluster 3.
She noted that work was ongoing on Chapter 8 (competition and state aid) within Cluster 2, the core cluster for the single market as it encompasses all four freedoms. She also mentioned that work was being conducted on Cluster 5, relating to agriculture and regional policy.
“We are working diligently to showcase what we have accomplished and to identify what still needs to be done concerning the interim benchmarks for Chapters 23 and 24,” Miščević said, adding that Serbia had aligned its visa regime with the European Union’s.
“The media laws need to be harmonised, and draft amendments have been submitted for the European Commission’s review. Feedback on two laws is expected by the end of the week,” Miščević stated.
She also reported that the gas interconnector with Bulgaria had received its final operational permit on 14 January.
