The stay of about 130 children in the “Dečija radost” kindergarten will be significantly improved thanks to the support of the European Union through the EU PRO Plus program, which is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of European Integration. Works valued at EUR 232,265 include the interior decoration of this preschool institution, including the replacement of internal doors, renovation, and equipment of wet rooms, replacement of floors, plastering, decoration of the boiler room, which includes the replacement of the complete installation and equipment in the boiler room with the construction of a new pellet boiler plant, which will improve services which this institution provides to children, but also improve working conditions for employees.
“In the previous two years, the municipality of Babušnica, in cooperation with donors and relevant ministries, actively worked on the renovation of the kindergarten. The carpentry was replaced, thermal insulation and a new facade were installed, a new van was purchased for transporting children, and we also decorated the yard. Now, with the support of the European Union, we will finish the two-year renovation of this only preschool institution in our municipality”, the president of the Babušnica municipality Ivana Stojičić has said. She has added that in addition to more than EUR 179,000 that the EU allocated for this project, the municipality will participate in the implementation with almost EUR 53,000.
The construction of a sensory room is also planned, which will especially contribute to the development of children with disabilities, who also attend this preschool, through therapy that affects concentration, calmness, and socialisation, and thus better social inclusion.
The deadline for the completion of works carried out by the company SK Montinženjering d.o.o. from Babušnica for construction work and Toplota d.o.o. from Pirot for mechanical installations, selected in the public procurement procedure conducted by the municipality of Babušnica, is 75 days.
The project in Babušnica is one of 33 local infrastructure projects in the regions of Šumadija and Western Serbia and Southern and Eastern Serbia that the EU supports through the EU PRO Plus program with more than 5.5 million euros in order to improve the quality of life of people through the restoration and reconstruction of educational, health and social care institutions, sports and cultural facilities, as well as the improvement of communal services and public administration buildings.
